Photography Essential Tips There are 2 types of 35 mm cameras: the lens shutter and the single lens reflex. The lens shutter, or the so-called point and shoot cameras, has various exposure controls and an automatic focus.� Its viewfinder is through a window on the top of the camera.� The advantages of a lens-shutter are that it is very light, small, cheaper ,and quiet to use. The single lens reflex, or SLR, has a unique viewfinder that allows you to look though the picture taking lens.� You see exactly what is photographed through a system of mirrors that reflect the image from the lens into the camera's viewfinder.� This allows you to focus and compose your photograph very accurately.� The SLR therefore allows you to put on telephoto, wide-angle, and zoom lenses and see through them.� This is not possible with a point and shoot 35 mm camera.� �
